Nationally recognized organization supporting Democratic veterans and military families targets this high-stakes race to ensure legislative majorities in 2026 Midterms
Garden Grove, CA – Today, VoteVets PAC, the political arm of VoteVets, endorsed U.S. Army Veteran, frontline candidate, and Democratic nominee Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California.
VoteVets advocates for candidates and issues that support troops, veterans, and their families. Recognizing Congressman Tran’s strong record defending veterans against disgraceful Republican attacks, VoteVets’ endorsement signals significant backing from their 1.5 million supporters in all 50 states.
“When I turned 18, I enlisted in the Army to give back to this country that provided me so much: healthcare, housing, the opportunity to pursue a good education, and a shot at the American Dream,” said Congressman Tran. “As a veteran, I understand firsthand the sacrifices veterans and military families make to defend our country’s values. In Congress, I’m proud to be a strong advocate for veterans, ensuring that they have continued access to affordable healthcare and housing services.”
“Derek’s deep patriotism and commitment to his community and country is exactly what we need more of in Congress,” said Travis Tazelaar, Political Director of VoteVets PAC. “We know he’ll fight to protect our rights and freedoms, while always looking out for his fellow Veterans. We’re proud to endorse him.”
Since day one, Congressman Tran has championed legislation that protects veterans and ensures the federal government has the resources to appropriately and effectively provide support to the 15.7 million veterans nationwide. Amid Donald Trump’s funding and staffing cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) last year, Tran introduced his first piece of legislation, the Protect Veteran Jobs Act, which supports veterans who were wrongfully terminated from their civil service positions. In March, Tran slammed the VA for a proposed rule change that would have limited veterans’ access to affordable healthcare. In September, Tran’s bipartisan Delivering Digitally to Our Veterans Act, which cuts red tape to simplify veterans’ educational benefits through the G.I. Bill, unanimously passed the House. In Orange County, Tran has signed onto two letters urging federal support for the county’s first-ever veteran cemetery at Gypsum Canyon.
