Largest labor union representing transit and allied workers in the nation supports Tran in his high-stakes race to ensure legislative wins nationwide
Garden Grove, CA – Today, the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), the nation’s largest labor union representing transit and allied workers, endorsed frontline candidate and Democratic nominee Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California.
Representing over 200,000 bus, van, subway, and light rail operators, clerks, baggage handlers, and maintenance employees, ATU’s endorsement reflects Congressman Tran’s strong record fighting for labor and delivering critical investments in public transportation across Southern California.
“I am honored to earn the support of the 200,000 transit workers with the Amalgamated Transit Union,” said Congressman Tran. “These men and women work hard every day to ensure millions of Southern Californians get to their destinations safely and efficiently. That’s why I’m proud to have a strong record standing up for labor and delivering millions of dollars to strengthen our community’s public transportation.”
“The Amalgamated Transit Union is proud to endorse Derek Tran for Congress,” said ATU International President John Costa. “A friend of the ATU, Derek is a fighter for working people and knows the importance of investing in public transportation across Southern California. We need to elect people like Derek to Congress to be strong advocates for the safety and dignity of our members.”
Since elected to represent California’s 45th District, Congressman Tran has delivered nearly $11 million in federal funding for critical infrastructure and public safety projects for the cities of Cerritos, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Westminster, La Palma, Brea, Buena Park, Fullerton, and Placentia.
