Garden Grove, CA – Tonight, frontline candidate Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California, issued the following statement after the the Orange County Fire Authority announced that all evacuation orders have been lifted in response to the hazardous materials incident in Garden Grove:

“I’m thankful to the heroic men and women at the OC Fire Authority who worked tirelessly over the last week to prevent catastrophic damage and keep Garden Grove families safe from the hazardous materials incident. Their steadfast commitment to serving our community has allowed all evacuated residents in Garden Grove to now return safely to their homes.

“I recognize that, for many families, this is not a return to normal. This crisis has brought chaos and disruption to our community, and I’m committed to holding all those involved accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”

In response to the hazardous materials incident from a storage tank at GKN Aerospace in Garden Grove, Congressman Tran has coordinated closely with local and federal emergency officials to secure resources and assist evacuation efforts.

On May 23, Tran hosted a virtual phone bank with volunteers to reach out to impacted families and share urgent evacuation details. On May 25, Tran secured a Federal Emergency Declaration to obtain additional public health resources. Tran has called on the leadership of GKN Aerospace to take full accountability for the panic and anxiety thousands of residents have experienced across the region.
