Garden Grove, CA – Congressman Derek Tran (CA-45) advanced over $2 million in federal funding for public safety and infrastructure projects across Orange County in a significant win to support working families and prevent violent crime.
Congressman Tran worked across the aisle with his Republican colleagues to secure this federal funding through a bipartisan spending bill that recently passed the House and now awaits Senate approval and the President’s signature. Specifically, the legislation includes funding for projects including:
HOPE Center in Fullerton, CA: $1.031 million in federal funding to equip licensed professional workers with the effective resources to support individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental illness. This funding will help increase the capacity of local law enforcement to respond to violent crime and emergencies. The HOPE Center is a nonprofit organization which provides services to individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
Myra Avenue Storm Water Pump Station in Cypress, CA: $1.09 million in federal funding to improve a broken and outdated flood water pump station to provide adequate flood protection to over 380 homes and 4 schools in the surrounding area. The City of Cypress, CA, will administer the funding.
“I was elected to Congress to improve the lives of working families across our district. This federal funding is essential for improving public safety and ensuring essential infrastructure is modernized to meet the daily needs of California families,” said Congressman Tran. “In a time when Donald Trump chooses tax breaks for his donors over helping hardworking families, I remain committed to advocating for our community by bringing more federal resources to critical projects that make Southern California the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
In Congress, the House Appropriations Committee has allocated federal funding for Congressman Tran’s 13 additional community project funding requests, including funding towards affordable housing projects, local infrastructure enhancements, and public safety improvements.
