Public Safety Professionals Line Up Behind DEREK Tran for Congress

International Association of Fire Fighters and Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs Endorsing Derek Tran in Red Hot Orange County Congressional Race

Garden Grove, CA — Earlier this year, Workers’ Rights Advocate, U.S. Army Veteran, City Commissioner, Small Business Owner Derek Tran secured major endorsements from the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALADS). Representing over 350,000 firefighters, emergency medical workers, and rescue workers across the United States and Canada, IAFF is one of the largest and most influential labor unions in North America. ALADS is the largest deputy sheriffs and district attorney investigators’ association in the country.

These endorsements solidify Derek Tran’s status as a champion for those on the front lines of public safety. The announcements come just days after an independent nonpartisan USC poll, found Tran leading the embattled MAGA incumbent Michelle Steel (45% to 43%), confirming his campaign's growing momentum as voters respond to his compelling story and vision for the district.

“Derek Tran stands out as a leader who truly understands the needs of first responders,” said Frank Lima, an active California Firefighter and General Secretary Treasurer of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). “His service in the U.S. Army and his commitment as a city commissioner have shown his dedication to public safety and community service. As a small business owner, he knows firsthand the importance of local support and infrastructure, crucial for emergency responses. The IAFF is proud to endorse Derek Tran for Congress, confident in his ability to advocate for the resources and support fire fighters need to keep our communities safe.”

"The Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs is proud to endorse US Army Veteran and small business owner Derek Tran for Congress.” said ALADS President Richard Pippin. “Derek's military background gives him a deep appreciation for the sacrifices our officers make daily. We can trust him to champion community policing, improve mental health services, and ensure our officers have the necessary resources they need to serve our communities."

With Steel’s favorability ratings dropping due to concerns over her extreme efforts to ban abortion nationwide as reported by the New York Times, and four national political forecasters– Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, FOX News, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball– recently moving this race in Tran’s favor, it's clear that Tran has the momentum and is well-positioned to flip this critical seat in November.

MAGA Michelle Steel’s image has taken a significant hit as voters become more aware of her extreme anti-abortion stance, alignment with the most far-right MAGA elements of her party, and her deep ties to corruption scandals, including her long-standing support for disgraced Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do, who is currently under FBI investigation for abusing taxpayer dollars.

Derek Tran is a Workers’ Rights Advocate, U.S. Army Veteran, City Commissioner, Small Business Owner running to unseat MAGA Rep. Michelle Steel as one of the key seats needed to flip the House for Democrats in November. As POLITICO reported, Vice President Kamala Harris’s rise to the top of the Democratic Presidential ticket sparked a surge of young voter support for Derek Tran and a flood of new donors in the Orange County race. Tran's campaign is capitalizing on the burst in momentum and is now neck-and-neck with incumbent Michelle Steel in multiple polls.
