Congressman Derek Tran Issues Statement Blasting Republicans’ Lame Attempt to Disenfranchise Voters

Garden Grove, CA – Frontline candidate and Democratic nominee Derek Tran issued the following statement blasting Congressional Republicans’ attempt to disenfranchise voters with H.R.1490:

“Congressional Republicans put forth H.R.1490 under the guise of denouncing socialist governments, without even including the communist regime of Vietnam. In reality, this resolution was another effort to enact Donald Trump’s SAVE Act, legislation that would disenfranchise millions of voters and rig the 2026 midterm elections for Republicans.

“Instead of coming to the table to lower costs for working families and restore affordable healthcare, Republicans are putting on another circus and dividing Americans along the way. Republicans have no intention to take the issues that matter most to working families seriously.

“When Democrats take back the House this November, we will make the Trump Administration a lame duck Administration.”

Congressman Tran has been a strong defender of voting rights amid the Trump Administration’s suppressive election tactics. Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s Louisiana v. Callais ruling weakening the Voting Rights Act, Tran slammed this clear decision to limit the voting power of minority Americans.
