New Democrat Coalition Action Fund Endorses Derek Tran for CA-45

Garden Grove, CA — Today, Workers’ Rights Advocate, U.S. Army Veteran, Consumer Rights Attorney, City Commissioner, and Small Business Owner Derek Tran, who is running in California’s 45th Congressional District, announced the endorsement of the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund (“New Dems”).

New Dems work to bridge the partisan divide with a solutions-oriented approach to politics. The Coalition’s primary goal is to find workable solutions to the most pressing issues facing our nation—from ensuring every American has access to quality health care to increasing affordable housing in every community. The group represents 98 Democratic Congressmembers spanning the nation.

“The NewDem Action Fund is thrilled to announce our endorsement of…Derek Tran…for Congress,” said New Democrat Coalition Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02). “[Derek has] the resources, skills, and determination to flip [this] critical seat in California…Derek…shares NewDems’ pragmatic approach to politics and knows that in order to win back the House majority in 2024, we have to run strong races and communicate effectively with voters across the country. There’s no doubt [that Derek Tran will be] the candidate to beat in November.”

“I am honored to have the endorsement of the New Democrat Action Fund representing 98 Members of the Democratic caucus,” said Tran. “As a worker’s rights attorney, veteran, and small business owner, I understand that Southern California needs bipartisan solutions to address our shared economic, climate, healthcare, and national security interests. MAGA Michelle Steel continues to vote with the most extreme partisans in Congress, and I look forward to ending her corruption in November.”

The New Democrat Coalition Action Fund endorsement comes on the heels of endorsements from VoteVets, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, Chair of the California House Democratic Delegation, Rep. Mark Takano, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, and Rep. Judy Chu, Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus. Tran announced his run just over 2 months ago, establishing himself as a frontrunner by raising three times what the combined Democratic field raised for Q3 2023 in just two weeks.
