“Disgraceful and Un-American”: Congressman Tran Blasts Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill One Year Later

Garden Grove, CA – Today, frontline candidate and Democratic nominee Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California, issued the following statement blasting President Trump and Congressional Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill one year later:

“On July 4th, we’ll celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday — the founding of our democracy and the enduring promise of liberty, freedom, and the American Dream.

“Unfortunately, Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans believe in an America where working families foot the bill for their disgraceful and un-American agenda. In only one year, their Big, Ugly Bill has done nothing for CA-45 but leave over 41,000 at risk of losing healthcare coverage and 30,000 households at risk of losing food assistance. And they want the pain to continue.

“We grow stronger as a nation when we bring up every member of our community, not ignore hardworking families who are struggling to get ahead. When we secure a Democratic House majority in November, we will reign in this out-of-control Administration and get back to serving the American people.”

Congressman Tran has been a steadfast advocate for working families in California’s 45th Congressional District. In his first term, Tran expanded affordable housing construction, lowered costs of skyrocketing healthcare prices, secured critical investments in public safety, and supported local small businesses.
