Congressman Tran Secures Federal Emergency Declaration for Garden Grove Hazardous Materials Incident

Garden Grove, CA – At the urging of frontline candidate Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California, President Donald Trump approved the request for a Federal Emergency Declaration in response to the ongoing hazardous materials incident in Garden Grove.

Yesterday, Congressman Tran, along with Senators Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff (both D-Calif.), sent a letter to President Trump strongly urging the federal government to grant California’s request for a Federal Emergency Declaration in Garden Grove.

“There is no place for politics during emergency disasters,” said Congressman Tran. “I’m grateful to Governor Newsom and Senators Padilla and Schiff for helping secure federal resources in response to the ongoing hazardous materials incident in Garden Grove. My highest priority is the safety and well-being of our first responders and neighbors who have experienced uncertainty and anxiety over the last week. I’m committed to ensuring we have all available resources to assist first responders and the community with the recovery process.”

A Federal Emergency Declaration directs federal agencies to provide supplemental public health resources, including air monitoring, plume modeling, environmental assessment, hazardous materials containment, and additional measures to support public health.
