The largest teachers organization in the country targets this high-stakes race to ensure legislative majorities in 2026 Midterms
Garden Grove, CA – Today, the National Education Association (NEA), the largest teachers organization in the country, and the California Teachers Association (CTA) endorsed frontline candidate and Democratic nominee Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California.
Representing over 2.8 million teachers, education faculty, and staff across the country, NEA’s endorsement signals strong support of Congressman Tran’s record advocating for public education across Southern California. CTA represents over 310,000 educators and is the affiliate chapter of NEA in California.
“With nearly 6 million children in public schools across California, including my own three kids, I know how important it is to fight for our teachers and students,” said Congressman Tran. “We must defend public education from the continued all-out assault launched by Republicans and the Trump Administration. Teachers serve on the frontlines of building our future generation, and they deserve sustainable wages and better working conditions. I am proud to be in this fight with NEA and CTA, and I am honored to earn their endorsements.”
“Members of CTA are proud to recommend Derek Tran for Congress,” said CTA President David B. Goldberg. “As a champion of students, teachers, and families, Derek has fought hard against harmful attempts to dismantle our public education. He understands the importance of preparing every student for success in a diverse and evolving world. Derek shares our values and commitment to public education.”
