CAPA21 PAC Endorses Congressman Derek Tran

One of the nation’s first political action committees serving the AANHPI community targets this high-stakes race to ensure legislative majorities in 2026 Midterms

Garden Grove, CA – Today, CAPA21 PAC, one of the nation’s first political action committees serving the AANHPI community, endorsed frontline candidate and Democratic nominee Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California.

CAPA21 invests in candidates, field operations, and projects nationwide to strengthen AANHPI participation in the political process. Recognizing Congressman Tran’s strong record advocating for the AANHPI community, CAPA21’s endorsement adds to a growing coalition of grassroots organizations backing his reelection.

“It is such an honor to receive the endorsement of CAPA21,” said Congressman Tran. “When my family came to this country seeking the American Dream, we relied on Section 8 housing, SNAP, and WIC. These programs were lifelines for my family, and I enlisted in the Army at 18 to give back to the country that had given me so much. I ran for Congress because that dream is getting harder for so many families to achieve. The AANHPI community deserves a seat at the table, and we are making our voices heard to build a truly representative government. I am proud to have the leaders of CAPA21 behind me in this fight.”

“Derek Tran is the son of immigrants, a US Army veteran, a lawyer who spent his career fighting for working people, a father, and a leader who truly understands his community,” said CAPA21 Chair Tamlyn Tomita. “As the first Vietnamese American to represent the largest Vietnamese diaspora community in the world outside of Vietnam, his election to Congress was not only historic for both the Vietnamese American community and also for the broader AANHPI community. In his first term in Congress, Derek has consistently fought to improve the lives of every constituent in his diverse district, stood up for small businesses, workers, and veterans, fought to ban political insiders from stock trading, and delivered for Southern California families.”
