The nationally-recognized network of healthcare advocates targets this high-stakes race to ensure legislative majorities in 2026 Midterms
Garden Grove, CA – Today, the Committee to Protect Health Care endorsed frontline candidate Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California.
Representing over 50,000 healthcare advocates across the country, the Committee fights to protect affordable healthcare, lower prescription drug costs, and defend access to reproductive healthcare services. Recognizing Congressman Tran’s strong legislative record advancing affordable healthcare and reproductive freedom, the Committee’s endorsement adds to a growing coalition of healthcare groups backing Tran’s reelection, including from Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Reproductive Freedom for All.
“It is an honor to earn the support of the 50,000 healthcare advocates with the Committee to Protect Health Care,” said Congressman Tran. “In Congress, I’m proud to fight for affordable healthcare and defend access to reproductive freedom nationwide. It is insulting and unacceptable that Congressional Republicans continue to sell out hardworking families by dismantling our healthcare system. I will never stop fighting for the thousands of Americans across Orange and Los Angeles Counties who rely on these critical resources.”
“The Committee to Protect Health Care is thrilled to endorse these health care champions, particularly at this critical juncture for our nation’s health and history,” said Dr. Rob Davidson, Executive Director of the Committee to Protect Health Care. “The current Congress has made unprecedented cuts to Medicaid and allowed ACA tax credits to expire, effectively ripping away health care from millions of Americans and threatening more rural hospital closures. The Trump administration continues to dismantle public health. Anti-abortion extremists continue to chip away at abortion access, pharmaceutical corporations continue to price gouge, and hospital consolidation raises costs for patients even further. It’s time for a Congress that stands up for patients, not profits, and stands up against egregious attacks on health care access. These endorsed candidates will be part of that Congress, and we look forward to working with them.”
Congressman Tran is proud to be a strong healthcare champion in Congress. In March, Tran demanded the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) reverse their proposed rule change that would have cut affordable healthcare for disabled Veterans, and the VA quickly reversed their decision. In February, Tran’s bipartisan legislation to lower prescription drug costs, the PBM Reform Act, was signed into law. In December, when Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans abandoned 22 million Americans by refusing to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits, Tran repeatedly voted to protect funding to these critical services.
