Congressman Tran Releases Statement After ICE Agents Unlawfully Kill U.S. Citizen in Minneapolis

Garden Grove, CA – Today, Congressman Derek Tran (CA-45) issued the following statement after ICE agents unlawfully killed a 37-year-old U.S. citizen in Minneapolis:

“ICE has executed another American citizen. A legal observer—surrounded, pinned to the ground, and defenseless—was shot at point-blank range. This was not an accident; it was a cold-blooded killing on our own soil.

“The agents involved represent a force that is unvetted, undertrained, and dangerously over-armed. They have abandoned their supposed mission of public safety to serve as a private paramilitary wing of the administration, patrolling our streets to terrorize citizens rather than pursue violent criminals.

“I am disgusted by the cowardice of my colleagues across the aisle. By refusing to join me in demanding oversight, they recently voted to effectively fund this violence with an additional $10 billion in taxpayer dollars. They have signed a blank check for state-sponsored murder.

“Congress must act now. We demand an immediate, fully objective federal investigation—transparently coordinated with Minnesota law enforcement—to hold these killers accountable.

“We cannot afford to look away. We must use our constitutional right to protest, we must resist this escalation of power, and we must never normalize the execution of our neighbors. The administration’s lies cannot hide the blood on their hands.”
