Democrats Serve Endorses Derek Tran for CA-45
Garden Grove, CA — Today, Workers’ Rights Advocate, U.S. Army Veteran, Consumer Rights Attorney, City Commissioner, and Small Business Owner, Derek Tran who is running in California’s 45th Congressional District, announced the endorsement of Democrats Serve, a PAC that helps Democrats with public service backgrounds.
“Defeating Michelle Steel is critical for Democrats to retake the House next year,” said Brett Broesder, Executive Director of Democrats Serve. “To do that, Democrats must coalesce around our party’s strongest candidate. That’s why Democrats Serve proudly backs Army veteran Derek Tran’s candidacy. We’re committed to ensuring he has the resources necessary to win in the primary and general elections.”
"I’m proud to have the endorsement of Democrats Serve,” said Tran. “I enlisted in the Army at 18 because I wanted to give back to the country that welcomed my refugee family. To have the endorsement of an organization that values service is a true honor. Together, we’ll take down corrupt, pay-to-play politician Michelle Steel and restore faith in public service.”
Democrats Serve recruits, trains, and supports Democrats with backgrounds serving their communities in government, just as Tran did in the Army. Candidates with public service backgrounds, like Tran, have first-hand knowledge of policies that impact the work of strengthening communities.
This endorsement comes on the heels of an endorsement from Rep. Zoe Lofgren, Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, and Rep. Mark Takano, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Tran announced his run less than 2 months ago, establishing himself as a frontrunner by raising three times what the combined Democratic field raised for Q3 2023 in just two weeks.
