Derek Tran Issues Statement on President Biden’s Departure from the 2024 Presidential Race

Workers’ Rights Advocate, U.S. Army Veteran, City Commissioner, Small Business Owner, and CA-45 congressional candidate Derek Tran issues the following statement on the 2024 presidential campaign:

“President Joe Biden is a patriot. He has served our country with distinction and honor for over fifty years. As our commander-in-chief, he kept his promises – passing bipartisan legislation to protect workers, reduce inflation, and strengthen our economy. He fought to protect a women’s right to abortion and for students burdened by insurmountable student debt. As Vice President and United States Senator, he led the charge on the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, the Violence Against Women Act, and the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007.

We’re facing a serious threat from MAGA extremists who pose a danger to our democracy and our values. Their agenda jeopardizes the rule of law, strips away women's rights, and puts corporations before working people. As the son of Vietnamese refugees, I understand how authoritarianism can crack the foundations of a democratic process beyond repair. And as a military veteran, I know the importance of putting your nation above all else. I thank President Biden for his selflessness to let new leadership run for America’s highest office.”
