Congressman Tran Releases Statement in Response to Hazardous Materials Incident in Garden Grove

Garden Grove, CA – Today, frontline candidate Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California, issued the following statement following reports of a hazardous materials incident at a facility in Garden Grove, prompting evacuation orders in the region:

“I am working closely with public safety officials to ensure impacted residents are safe and first responders have the resources to effectively contain the toxic chemical leak at the GKN Aerospace facility in Garden Grove.

“The Orange County Fire Authority is currently conducting evacuation orders in the impacted zones and a temporary shelter has been established at Stanton City Hall. I strongly recommend everyone in the affected area to avoid the impacted zones and follow guidance from local authorities.

“I urge FEMA and the EPA to immediately provide any available federal assistance to support the recovery process.”

On Thursday, May 21, at around 3:30 p.m. PST, the Orange County Fire Authority responded to reports of a hazardous materials incident from a storage tank at GKN Aerospace in Garden Grove. The situation is ongoing and Congressman Tran is working closely with local and federal emergency officials to monitor the situation and secure immediate emergency resources.
