Congressman Derek Tran Secures $250,000 for Affordable Housing in Orange County

Garden Grove, CA – In a major win for working families, frontline candidate Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California, announced $250,000 in federal funding for affordable housing construction across Orange County.

As mortgage rates continue to skyrocket nationwide as a direct result of Donald Trump’s war of choice in Iran and Congressional Republicans’ out-of-touch policies, Congressman Tran is standing up for working families and working closely with local leadership to increase affordability across the district.

“Hardworking families shouldn’t have to bear the burden of rising costs because Congress is broken and bends to the manic, billionaire-first policies of this Administration,” said Congressman Tran. “The Housing crisis in Southern California deserves our attention and our focus. Providing my constituents the resources they need to live, work, and raise a family right here in Orange County is my priority as costs rise. With this federal funding, we’re investing in critical affordable housing infrastructure that will leave a positive impact on our community for decades to come.”

“The OC Housing Finance Trust will leverage Representative Tran’s $250K into $1.25 million in affordable housing financing,” said Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley. “This investment will support our workforce housing initiatives and deliver on our promise to Orange County families to solve the housing affordability crisis.”

This funding will support the construction of 2,700 affordable housing units across Orange County and is appropriated through Community Project Funding. This project is part of a broader $14 million package Tran secured, supporting 15 community projects across Orange and Los Angeles Counties.
