Garden Grove, CA – To strengthen public safety across the district, frontline candidate Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California, secured $925,000 in federal funding to build a new Emergency Operations Center in Artesia.
This critical funding will ensure Artesia has modernized technology to strengthen emergency response coordination and support first responders with keeping the community safe.
“I’m proud to deliver nearly $1 million in public safety investments for the thousands of working families in Artesia,” said Congressman Tran. “The brave public safety officers who responded to the incident at GKN in Garden Grove saved lives. They put themselves in harm’s way to keep the community safe every day, and it’s why I am pushing hard to get them the funding they need.”
“This funding milestone represents an important investment in the safety and resilience of our community,” said Artesia Mayor Rene Trevino. “The Emergency Operations Center will help ensure Artesia is better prepared to respond to emergencies and will continue serving residents when it matters most.”
Congressman Tran has championed critical investments in public safety. Earlier this month, Tran cosponsored bipartisan legislation to strengthen community-based crime prevention strategies nationwide. As a member of the Bipartisan Congressional Law Enforcement Caucus, Tran has cosponsored several bills to strengthen officer safety, including the Bipartisan Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program Expansion Act to assist local governments with purchasing protective equipment for officers and the National Law Enforcement Officers Remembrance, Support, and Community Outreach Act to improve wellness programs for officers.
Tran’s reelection campaign is supported by the largest associations of deputy sheriffs and district attorney investigators in Orange and Los Angeles Counties, the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs and the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs.
