Garden Grove, CA – Today, Sierra Club Independent Action, the political arm of the Sierra Club, endorsed frontline candidate Derek Tran, who represents the most competitive House seat in Southern California.
As Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans roll back policies that protect our environment from the devastating impacts of climate change, Congressman Tran has been a vocal defender of federal environmental protections and investments in clean energy that protect California’s coastlines, forests, and wildlife.
“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club to continue my work in Congress fighting against the effects of climate change,” said Congressman Tran. “Climate change is a real and existential threat that must be curbed by effective federal policy that promotes environmental protections and clean energy investments. I’m proud to stand strong against President Trump and Congressional Republicans’ destructive environmental policies that have ignored scientific realities and have put our communities at risk with harmful offshore drilling projects and reckless cuts to clean energy infrastructure.”
“At a time when Americans are increasingly concerned about the rollbacks of environmental and health protections, Congressman Tran has been a strong voice in supporting efforts to protect our coast from offshore drilling and our planet from the threats posed by climate change,” said Mike Bressler, Chairperson and Political Chair of the Rio Hondo Group Sierra Club. “He has also taken strong stands in favor of protecting public lands and to protect our democratic system of government. The Sierra Club is very proud to endorse U.S. Representative Derek Tran for re-election in 2026.”
